The Profilometer has been especially developed for car tyres and the measuring accuracy is greatest in the critical profile height range up to 4 mm.

Ecco come funziona.

Un misuratore laser montato su un'asta telescopica è posto sul profilo del battistrada del pneumatico. Nel processo di controllo il laser scansiona tutte le scanalature del battistrada. I valori rilevati sono memorizzati in uno speciale programma e i risultati possono essere immediatamente stampati. Lo spettro delle misure rilevate è tra 0,0mm e 11,0mm.

Il "Profilometro" è sviluppato in particolare per i pneumatici auto e l'accuratezza delle misure è migliore per altezze del battistrada fino ai 4mm..

Con il "Profilometro" diventa possibile controllare un gran numero di vetture in poco tempo, facilitando la frequenza del controllo dei pneumatici da parte degli utenti. Questo è particolarmente utile quando i pneumatici hanno uno spessore inferiore a 3mm. Anche se la legge sancisce che il battistrada residuo deve misurare almeno 1,6mm, è raccomandato sostituire i pneumatici non appena il profilo residuo è inferiore ai 3 mm (4mm nel caso dei pneumatici invernali). 

Grazie al Fulda Laser Check, gli addetti possono verificare fino a 3000 veicoli al giorno. 

Le statistiche del programma Laser Check mostrano che 8 vetture su 100 necessitano di un cambio pneumatici. In 11 anni Fulda Laser Check ha controllato più di 33 milioni di pneumatici. 

Questa iniziativa della Fulda per la sicurezza sulle strade ha ottenuto moltissimi riconoscimenti in Germania, in Europa e nel mondo.

This is a danger which is still misjudged. A test campaign conducted by the Technical Control & Monitoring Association (Gesellschaft für Technische Überwachung - GTÜ) revealed that 16 percent of the vehicles examined failed to meet the legally required level, and even 25 percent were “absolute borderline”.
