Fulda Challenge: The success story of a brilliant event
| The Fulda Challenge is a unique alpine sporting event, created as a result of Fulda’s experience during its sponsorship of the Yukon Quest (1996-1999), the hardest dog race in the world. The aim was to create an event combining driving skills with sporting endeavour. The extreme climatic conditions of the territory make it the perfect location as a test ground for the company’s winter tires, but also as a challenge and endurance test for athletes. | ![]() |

Since 2001 each year in January, at temperatures of minus 40 degrees, athletes and celebrities participate under the direction of the race legend Hans-Joachim Stuck to the already famous extreme sports event.

The success of the Fulda Challenge is also linked to the participants like for example the ex-football champion Fredi Bobic, the boxer Sven Ottke, the former Olympic champion Lars Riedel, the Paris-Dakar winner Jutta Kleinschmidt, eight times gold medal winner Birgit Fischer, the decathlete Frank Busemann (winner in 2008) and Joey Kelly (winner in 2009).

Each event proposes its new routes and events and therefore has its own particular character. The selection is done according to this motto: The harder and more spectacular, the better! |

Only the most complete athlete has a chance to win. During the Fulda Challenge, the participants have the possibility to fight in SUV’s, buggies, quads or hovercrafts races. They can demonstrate their power and endurance during skis, ice climbing or kayaks contests. And for those, who still have doubts of the competence of the participants, they prove it also during half-marathon, speed skating or mountain bike races in frozen-temperature. |
