Why has TUV Sud to certify the performance of the Carat Exelero? 

To answer that question we have to understand how most people buy new tyres. 

The tyre buying process is not something that most people enjoy immensely. But, in general consumers understand the importance of making the right choice, as the tyre plays such an important part in providing safety and comfort.   

The trouble is that for the average consumer it is not easy to make the right choice. How to compare one tyre to another? There is no possibility to do a test drive, like one can do with a new car.   

In some countries, local car- or consumer magazines conduct comparitive tests, which allow to make comparisons. That is about the maximum that one will be able to find. 

In most instances, it is the tyre dealer who makes the recommendation that leads to the final decision.   

Fulda was looking to provide a source of information that will allow the consumer to make a educated decision about which tyre to buy next. How can we show where a tyre is performing well and where it is maybe less good? 

To do that, it was important to have a source that is completely independent, so that the consumer would feel comfortable that the information provided was not simply ‘advertising’. 

That is why Fulda asked the TUV to run a comparitive test against key competitors. 

The TUV not only ran a complete performance test on the road and circuit, but also did a certification of the production sources.   

Of course, we at Fulda are very pleased that the Exelero performs so well, and received the TUV certification for performance and manufacturing. 

The important thing however, is that everyone can now make his or her own educated decision about the next tyre to buy, using a completely independent source of information.
