Tyre features

Some of our tyres have special features that make them excel in certain situations. Here’s a quick explanation of what they do.

RunOnFlat

Our revolutionary RunOnFlat technology lets you drive at up to 50mph on a flat tyre. So there’s no need for roadside tyre changes, and a reduced risk of motorway blowouts.

Rim protection

With rim protectors built into the tyre, you’ll enjoy greater protection against curb damage.

On road

Designed for on road use by SUV vehicles, and rated for speeds of up to 168mph.

Off road

These 4-wheel-drive tyres are designed for off road use.

On-off road

Designed for off road use with 4-wheel-drive vehicles, these tyres may also be used on the road at speeds of up to 118mph.

*Depending on the type of vehicle, its speed and road surface. Based on internal vehicle road measurements, tested February 2018, January 2018, November 2017 and October 2011 by Goodyear engineers in Luxembourg. Tyre size: 225/55R17 on VW Passat Alltrack and Ford Kuga and 255/45R18 on Audi A7.

EU Tyre ratings

EU tyre rating facilitates the comparison of tyres with respect to safety and environmental protection.

Fuel efficiency

Fuel efficiency is a measure of the tyre's rolling resistance. A tyre with low rolling is more fuel efficient since it requires less energy to roll. Fuel efficiency is rated from A (highest rating) to E (lowest rating).

Wet grip

Wet grip is a measure of tyre’s braking ability on wet roads. Wet grip is rated from A (highest rating) to E (lowest rating).

External noise

The external noise generated by the tyre, measured in decibels. The noise class is rated from A (quiet) to C (noisy).

Snow Grip

Tires with 3 peak mountain snowflake pictogram have shorter braking distance on snow cover roads, essential for keeping you safe in snow winter conditions. For passenger vehicles, the pictogram is granted by measuring the braking distance of a car from 25 kph on compacted snow or by measuring the traction force of a tire.  For truck, the pictogram is granted by measuring the acceleration performance of a tire.

Ice Grip

Tires with Ice Grip Index pictogram have shorter braking distance on ice cover roads, essential for keeping you safe in icy winter conditions. The pictogram is granted by measuring the braking distance of a car from 20 kph on pure ice.
