The Pressure Check gives precise measurements no matter the car & tyres it uses. You pass over the test plates & the Pressure Check will take care of the rest.
Journalists flocked to see Goodyear’s Fulda brand unveil the world’s first mobile "touchless" tire pressure checking system and to experience the difference that proper tire pressure makes on performance, in a recent event at the famous Nürburgring circuit in Germany.
The new Pressure Check system delivers precise measurements, to one-tenth of a bar in pressure, regardless of the model or dimension of the vehicle and the type of tires it uses. It works by collecting data from hundreds of individual sensors in the contact threshold that measure the tire’s degree of hardness, deformation and other factors. This information is then used by a specially-designed software program to determine the tire pressure.
To have the tire pressure measured, a car must simply pass over the test plates at walking speed, and the Pressure Check system will take care of the rest.
Fulda also took advantage of the new Pressure Check system debut to stress the importance of maintaining proper tire inflation. The participants in the press event were able to experience the influence of air pressure on vehicle handling firsthand by performing side-by-side tests with properly inflated tires and ones with half a bar too little.
In simulated evasive maneuvers, drivers could not successfully complete the course except at considerably reduced speeds.
According to statistics from Fulda, more than one-third of motorists are driving without properly-inflated tires.
Failing to keep tires at the appropriate level of pressure can have serious consequences for both budgets and driving safety. At just 0.5 bars below their proper pressure, tire wear can increase by up to 50 percent. In addition, improperly-inflated tires are not able to transfer as much force for cornering, meaning that the driver may not have the capability to avoid dangerous situations on the road.
The new Pressure Check system is part of the brand, along with the innovative Laser Check, which checks tire tread in seconds, and Lane Check, which checks the chassis in minutes. Like the Pressure Check system, the other two components are being used on a mobile basis and adhere to tire industry standards.
In addition, Fulda operates two microsites, www.warum-winterreifen.de and www.bussgeld-mpu.de, to provide advice on the topics of traffic safety and traffic law.
Fulda EcoControl & Carat Progresso well rated in the latest ADAC tyre tests.
